Road accident – what to do? 5 steps you need to keep in mind

Unfortunately – looking at the statistics on our country, the number of road accidents is not diminishing at all. So let’s not forget all the rules of caution! Sometimes, however – through our fault or not – we are participants of a road accident.

However, before we go to the 5 steps that should be remembered during a road accident, it is worth remembering the difference between a collision and an accident. So we call a collision all the events where we suffer material losses – that is, the car was damaged, but nothing happened to anyone. In turn, a road accident is a situation in which a person suffered. So let’s get down to explaining what to do in such a situation!

First, assess the condition of the victim

You should not call an ambulance for everything right away! If the aggrieved party feels well and there is a possibility that he will be transported to the emergency room in a way other than an ambulance – take advantage of this opportunity. However, if in doubt, call us!

Second – secure the scene

Each vehicle should have emergency lights on, the handbrake is engaged, and the keys should be removed from the ignition. Then place an emergency triangle in the right place.

Third – call the police

It is not necessary in every situation. However, here is a list of situations where we have such an obligation:

Fourth – make documentation

Make sure that the statement will contain the data of the participants of the incident (in the first place of the person who led to the accident), the cause and circumstances, the data of the victims, the vehicle registration numbers and the data on insurers.

Fifth – stay calm

Try your best to help the victims of the accident. Peace will be really important here! You can also call for roadside assistance.
