Varnishing – not that simple!
As we have already mentioned, varnishing requires great precision and attention! A good painter must use many specialized tools, such as the measurement ones. What’s more, he should know the technical drawing, know exactly the structure and operation of the car – similar to the professions of the type mechanics and tinsmith.
It must be able to make heating and spawn connections or even have health and safety knowledge.
What does a painter do?
The painter is renovating car bodies and is also renovating. It is therefore crucial that the varnisher first, before he goes to work, cleans the surface on which he will work. You can’t go without it! So it uses tools such as a mechanical grinder, but also from wire brushes or abrasive paper. It is also important that the surface is degreased. Sometimes it is also necessary to derust! Another of the painter’s duties is: leveling and smoothing the body. As you can see, there is already a lot to do, and this is not the end!
The varnisher also deals with priming (single or multi-layer) and, of course, drying the surface. It must also apply a decorative enamel and, in some cases, burn it. At the end, it is time to polish the surface and wash the car body with special products.
Customer in the first place
Of course – first of all, what the client expects is done. It is he who makes key decisions, although a good varnisher will certainly advise the best and try to convince the client to change his mind when he knows that the solution proposed by him will not look good.
The client, coming to the workshop, often has a vision that may simply not work, be impractical or look very unsightly. It is then that the painter’s task is to indicate other solutions.
